Custom Button Loop Patches That Hang, Not Stick

A button-loop patch has a fabric loop at the top that slips over a button the garment already has. Nothing is stitched, nothing is pierced and no adhesive touches the fabric. It hangs. That is an unusual way to wear a patch and it exists for a specific reason: temporary insignia that has to go on and come off repeatedly without altering the shirt underneath.

The garment decides whether it works. The loop has to fit over the button, so a small shirt button and a large toggle are different problems, and a garment with no button in the right place is not a candidate at all. Tell us the button and where it sits when you order, because the loop is made to that rather than to a standard size. Position also matters more than on a fixed patch, since a hanging piece sits where gravity puts it.

A hanging patch moves. That is the tradeoff, and it is worth weighing honestly against what the patch is for. It swings when the wearer moves, it can be pulled, and it can catch. For a scouting sash or an event pass that is fine. For a permanent badge on a work uniform it is not, and stitching is the better answer.
