Custom reflective patches are designed to return light toward its source, so a mark that looks ordinary in daylight shows up when a light hits it at night. Teams, crews, clubs and safety programs ask for them on jackets, packs and carriers. The first thing to understand is that a reflective patch is a material question before it is a design question.
Reflective effects come from specific materials, typically a reflective thread worked into the design or a reflective film layer cut to shape. Each behaves differently: thread gives a subtler return across stitched lettering, while film gives a stronger, flatter surface for bold shapes. Which one suits your order depends on the artwork, the garment and what your specification actually requires.
We are careful about claims. We do not state reflectivity ratings, visibility distances or compliance with any safety standard for these patches, because that requires testing evidence for the specific product. Send your written specification and we will tell you plainly whether we can supply what it asks for, and exactly what we would be supplying. If we cannot supply it, we will say that too, rather than offering a patch that looks reflective but does not do what your requirement needs it to do.

Lighting conditions to judge
Every reflective patch has two appearances: how it looks in ordinary daylight and how it looks when a light is pointed at it. A design that works in one can fail in the other, so both are considered before production. The reflective element should support the design in daylight, not fight it.
Size and shape follow the garment and the design, with one extra rule: reflective materials reward bold, simple shapes. Large letterforms, thick outlines and solid areas return light well, while fine detail and thin strokes lose definition. Send the artwork at the size you want, and we will say which elements suit a reflective treatment.

Designed for both lights
We consider how the patch reads in daylight and under light. The reflective element is placed where it helps the design at night without making the daylight version look unfinished or cluttered. Both appearances are discussed before you approve the proof.
No invented ratings
We do not state reflectivity ratings, visibility distances or safety certification for these patches. Those require testing evidence for the specific product, and we will not publish figures we cannot support. If a buyer needs rated performance, the specification must say so.

Most identification panels do not need a reflective element at all. Thread and molded panels are simpler, easier to change and carry no material constraints. Choose a reflective treatment only when being seen under light is part of the requirement, not simply because it sounds more capable.
