Custom OCP patches are the subdued versions of insignia, tapes and flags made for wear on a utility uniform in the Operational Camouflage Pattern. The job is rarely a new design. It is taking artwork that works in full color and making it hold up in a low-contrast palette on a patterned background, where detail that was obvious can vanish.
That is a matching problem more than a production one. A subdued patch depends on how close colors separate from each other and from the uniform around them, so we match from an issued sample or your written criteria rather than from a screen, and we show the tonal separation on the proof so you can judge it before anything is made.
We need to be plain about one thing. Uniform wear rules are set by each service, they change, and they are not ours to interpret. We build to the sample, drawing or criteria you supply, and we do not describe any patch as approved, authorized or compliant. Whether a finished patch meets your requirement is a determination your unit makes. If your unit has not given you written criteria or a sample, ask for them before ordering, because matching a subdued palette without a reference is guesswork.

The unit emblem redrawn for a low-contrast palette, with neighboring colors adjusted so the shapes still read against the uniform. Where the full-color emblem is being made at the same time, both versions come from one file. Where it already exists, send the finished patch or the artwork and we match the subdued version to it.

Name Patches for Subdued Tapes
Low-contrast lettering on a tape matched to the uniform, laid out so every surname in the roster shares one letter height. Contrast is the constraint here: a subdued letter needs a little more height to read than a full-color one. Send an issued tape where you have one, because matching from a sample beats matching from a description.

Small pieces where proportion and orientation matter more than detail, usually worn on hook-and-loop so they can be moved. Specify the orientation you need rather than assuming it, and order the full-color and subdued versions together if you need both, so the stripes and field sit in exactly the same place on each.

Morale artwork often carries more illustration than formal insignia, which a subdued palette flattens, so simplifying the design is usually part of the job. Molded builds are common here because the outline can follow the artwork and the surface wipes clean.

Tones that must still separate
Every subdued patch rests on one relationship: the difference between two close tones, the mark and the field it sits on. Push them too close and the design disappears on the uniform; keep them too far apart and the patch stops being subdued. That balance is judged on the proof, beside the uniform color if you can send a sample.
Size follows the uniform and your criteria. Measure the loop field or the space the patch occupies, send any dimensions you have been given, and we lay the artwork out against them. Where a small detail will not survive the palette at that size, we propose a simplification at proof stage rather than making it silently.
For subdued emblems and tapes with thread texture, choose stitched subdued insignia. For gear pieces that shed water and wipe clean, choose molded low-contrast patches. For anything swapped between uniforms and carriers, choose hook-backed attachment.

Colors are matched from an issued patch or tape, or from written criteria, never from a screen. Close tones behave differently in thread than on a monitor, and a physical sample is the fastest route to a match you can approve.
Separation shown on the proof
The proof shows how the design separates from its field so you can judge legibility before production. Where detail vanishes in the low-contrast palette, we propose an adjustment instead of hoping the detail survives. Nothing is produced until you approve it.
No compliance claims
We build to the criteria you supply and never describe a patch as approved, authorized or compliant with any uniform regulation. Whether a finished patch meets your service requirement is determined by your unit. That position is the same on every order.
